Venice, Italy, better known as “The City of Water.”
It was a beautiful city, filled with beautiful architecture, hearty food and a good atmosphere. But what Venice is most famous for is the Grand Canal, a 3800 meter long canal that was known for the gondola rides, for the tourists and business people a like.
With sparkling blue waters on the surface, it was quite a sight to behold, but very few decide to submerge in there, today being one of those exceptions.
A female neko/human hybrid with long brown hair tied into a ponytail thanks to a violet scrunchie with black cat ears visible was at the Ca’ D’oro Palace, hiding in the shadows as she was going over her swimming gear.
Violet eyes were looking at her new pair of goggles, after her old goggles finally broke to the point of no repair after many years of use; the last week was filled with sadness, but after some consoling and consoling from her husband, she was able to move on and get a new pair of goggles.
After searching, she got a modified variant of the Cressi Minima goggles, with a violet frame instead of silver, a different strap to place the goggles over her eyes and nose, but otherwise, they still aided her sight underwater. Placing them over her irises, she could see two circular violet/indigo frames with a black nose cover.
Wearing a purple and black two piece, having the top composed of two cups with black straps going around her breasts, cleavage, shoulders and back, also having silver rings in certain areas. The lower area had a violet cloth covering both the private area and part of her buttocks, while having black straps going around her hips, having her black cat tail to be free to move where ever.
She also had a black belt attached below her belly button in case she needed to place something on it, but today didn’t look like it.
Kneeling down towards the marble flooring, she grabbed two weights, wrapping one around her left wrist, the other around her right ankle; last time she had twin leg weights, making her not be able to walk normally, so she had to moonjump.
Hopefully, with the weight being asymmetrical, it would allow her to walk normally. She also grabbed two black fingerless gloves, she put them on.
“OK Carri… I’ll grab some fresh branzino, meet up with Stormy and Lily and enjoy a nice lunch.” Carri Ford said to herself, planning her lunch event with Storm Ford and Lily Ford, her husband and young daughter.
Looking down into the water, Carri sat down onto her butt, placing both feet into the water, looking at the shimmering, dancing light on her skin, feeling the warm water flow in between her toes. Smiling, she took a few deep breaths before pushing down with her arms and forward, dipping underwater, with bubbles popping on the surface.
Carri descended underwater, thanks to the weights, hearing the natural ambience of the submerged world around her with ethereal light shining from above. Small bubbles of air escaped her lips, and while she couldn’t see it, there was a nice glare on her new goggles.
Sinking, her feet touched the brown sand below, creating a small cloud beneath her, but she also saw green sea grass flowing as well, it was at 12 feet underwater, with lots of light, water and nutrients, the grass was very healthy.
Though her focus was now on walking underwater properly, like she was on land; Carri stretched her fingers, then lifted her left leg, this time staying in place as she took her first step underwater. Next, she did the same movement with her right leg,
Finally learning how to properly walk submerged again, Carri slowly clapped her hands. “Ybablbybm!” She gurgled with a British accent.
Now with her self-taught lesson engraved in memory, Carri now needed to find some branzino, walking slowly, moving her arms up and down, she began her stroll.
Hair flowing gently behind her, she enjoyed every second of being underwater, watching some of her air bubbles float up to the surface above, popping once it hit the fresh air on the top. Carri looked around, witnessing the light dance on the gray marble walls to the left and right of her.
Focusing on the path ahead, Carri moved on, along the way, she decided to stop in place for a split second, she had about 13 minutes of air left out of a maximum 15. Using both of her hands, she reached to the back of her head and grabbed her scrunchie, pulling it off to let her long brown hair flow upward, revealing her useless human ears.
She wanted to let the entirety of her hair flow freely, placing it in her belt, she then moved onwards.
Minutes went by while Carri walked, even doing some jumps along the way to have fun, at the expense of having her bottom beginning giving her a wedgie, slipping in betwixt of her butt crack. Sinking back to the sea bed below, Carri felt a rubbing sensation behind her, the front part tighting up.
“Mbleyblbow…” She meowed and gurgled at the same time; she grabbed the backside of her bottom and spread it out, relieving her pain and covering up again. “Mbluch blettbler.”
Walking along, Carri had about 7 minutes of air left in her lungs, feeling a very slight tingle in her chest, but she had lots of time left before she had to surface for air. In the meantime, her focus was on her target, the one thing she was after.
European Sea-Bass, Dicentrarchus Labrax, or better known as Branzino, it was a common type fish that was edible and mostly found within the Mediterranean sea, where Carri used to live; she had it before and it was a good fish to eat, with silver-blue scales, it was what’s for lunch for her family.
But she couldn’t hunt them, not within the city limits, she didn’t want to pollute the pristine waters with the blood of the branzino, she would have to find another way to acquire said fish, for now, all Carri could do was lick her lips in hunger, hearing her tummy grumble.
Shaking her fist, Carri decided it was time to surface, she crouched and bent her knees, then pushed upwards, ascending to the fresh air above, kicking her legs, she let loose a small cloud of bubbles.
Rising quickly, the bubbles popped the surface of the water before Carri’s head was above it, water dripping down her hair, her skin, over the glass lens of her goggles.
Breathing in fresh water, she swam her way over to the right side of the Grand Canal, finding herself at Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, a church worshipping Saint Maria of Health, it tall, white, very decorative as well.
Carri swam her way over to the edge, trying not to let the weights pull her back underwater, once she made it towards the marble edge, she grabbed ahold and pulled herself up, making her way up, she sat on her butt, letting water drip down her Caucasian skin, straining the liquid out of her hair.
“Bloody heck… still, I have to respect the law…” Carri said to herself, sighing, once her hair had the excess water removed and her goggles were taken off to get full peripheral vision, she looked up at the giant clock in the distance, only having 30 minutes left before she had to meet her family for lunch, she could feel her heart getting heavy with sadness.
“Mewll… what to do?”
Looking towards the statue of Saint Maria, she thought that maybe a prayer to her would grant her luck, after all, hunger wasn’t good health. Even though religion wasn’t her thing, that was her husband’s practice, she decided it was worth a shot. Carri kneeled and placed her hands together, bowing her head and closing her eyes.
“Blessed Saint of Health, I pray to thee that you bestow a good bounty upon me and my family, for we are hungry and must eat soon. I ask in your good name that you bless us like the lord has blessed you. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.”
Carri prayed until she could get the scent of fresh branzino entering her nostrils, she turned around, seeing a gondola go by, having branzino in special bags and covered in ice, it was the quickest way to get the fish within 30 minutes.
“Bless your kind heart.” Carri thanked the Saint of Health, she then put her goggles back over her eyes and nose, grabbing her scrunchie and grabbing her hair, placing it in her hair, ponytail returning.
Crouching down, she took off her weight wrapped around her right ankle, then taking the weight off her left wrist and set them down, she needed the extra speed to catch up to the gondola. Once she was ready, she cracked her knuckles, getting them limber.
She then ran towards the edge of the water and jumped in, curling upon into a cannonball to let gravity pull her into the water.
A large plume of water formed up into the shape of a tall mushroom before falling down, making ripples in the water, while Carri straightened herself out, beginning to perform the dolphin kick, undulating her body up and down like a real dolphin.
Propelling herself forward quickly, Carri let loose small bubbles from her lips as she heard the ambiance around her, seeing the underbelly of the gondola, seeing a pole poking the sea bed, being pushed along to move the gondola forward.
“Wblaitblt ublbp!” Carri gurgled; she popped her black cat claws out and lunged for the brown wood ahead of her, getting closer to the gondola with each passing second. Once she made contact, her claws were dug in, momentum causing the boat to rock back and forth, spooking the man who was operating it.
Carri then popped out her feet claws, just as sharp as her hands, she swung for a bit before attaching them onto the gondola, then she slowly climbed her way up, surfacing. Thankfully the wood was thick enough where she didn’t cause any catastrophic leaks.
Making her way to the edge, she saw a man with shiny black hair, blue eyes with mustache, tan skin and green clothes, she assumed he didn’t speak a lick of English, so she talked to him in his native Italian tongue.
“Ciao, mi prega di procurarsi un po 'di Branzino da voi, signore? [Hello, may I please procure some Branzino from you, sir?]” Carri asked in Italian. The man gave Carri and angry look, standing up to his feet and chewed her out.
“Hai paura di botte mi outta! E voi danneggiato la mia gondola! [You scared the daylights outta me! And you damaged my gondola!]” He shouted.
“Le mie scuse, signore. Non volevo spaventarti, né danneggiare il bene gondola. [My apologies, sir. I didn't mean to frighten you, nor damage your fine gondola.]”
The man sighed and shook his head side to side; he didn’t mean to shout at her, it was just an accident. After taking a few breathes, he spoke to her in a normal voice.
“Va bene signora, ma non si può fare il bagno qui ... Ti dirò che cosa, ti darò branzino se non nuotare qui più a lungo. [It's fine madam, but you can't swim here... I'll tell you what, I'll give you branzino if you don't swim here any longer.]”
“Capisco, ma ho bisogno di nuotare di nuovo a mio marito e la giovane figlia. [I understand, but I do need to swim back to my husband and young daughter.]”
“Va bene, hanno una bella giornata. [That is fine, have a nice day.]”
“Anche a te, signore. [Same to you, sir.]”
Carri grabbed a bag of branzino and saluted him before jumping back into the water, making a good splash.
Pazzi questi giorni...”
Carri swam in front of the gondola with the fish in tow, dipping underwater to go full speed. She had to meet her family on a brown and purple gondola, they were bringing fresh bread and grapes, having a good fashioned picnic.
Licking her lips while she saw more live branzino swimming by, hearing the submerged ambiance the last time for today, witnessing the light dancing above her, Carri made every moment enjoyable while kicked her feet, propelling herself forward.
“Ablblh… sblucblh abl wblondrblous dblaybl…”
Turning her body 180 degrees sideways, she began to swim backwards, watching the fish come swimming towards here, once again not seeing the glare effect on her lens. Smiling, small bubbles escaped from her lips until she could hear a faint “poomph” through the ambiance.
Flipping back around, she could see a brown pole with purple twists on them, she knew whose gondola it belongs too. Carri quickly surfaced, water dripping down her skin once more and lens, when the water dried up, she could see her gondola, a brown wooden boat with purple decorations.
She grabbed onto the pole while holding onto the bag of branzino with her teeth, Carri made her way up the pole and into the deck of the gondola, seeing her husband Storm and young daughter, Lily.
Storm was a human male with short brown hair, brown irises hiding behind glasses made for nearsighted people, wearing a gray t-shirt with black tie, while blue jeans and brown shoes covered his legs and feet. He was holding onto a brown paper bag, having fresh picked black grapes and homemade fresh bread.
Next to him was his and Carri’s 14 year old daughter, Lily, a neko/human hybrid like her mother, was sitting on the gondola, enjoying the ride. She had brown hair with a big bang going to the left side while small black cat ears popped out from her hair.
Brown irises staring at her mum, white teeth shining while smiling; wearing a light purple dress with dark purple ribbons with her thin black cat tail wagging to and fro with excitement.
“Hai mummy, did you get the fishies?” She asked with a british accent like her mother. Purring happily.
“Aye, I did…” Carri replied, purring as well, she sat down and took her goggles off, opening the bag of branzino and getting a whiff of that fresh scent.
“Yay!” Lily replied.
Storm rubbed her head as he opened the bag, pulling out the fresh loaf of bread and began to portion it while Carri took the branzino and worked on deboning it and getting good portions to make a tartare.
The two worked as Lily looked for her grape juice to drink; minutes went by until Carri handed a piece of bread with the tartare spread on it to Lily. “Here you go, Lil. Enjoy.”
Lily took the bread and nibbled on it, liking the salty fish on a good piece of bread, she ate upon it. “NYAM-NOM-NOM.”
Her parents giggled as they enjoyed the day, the two kissing each other on the lips in love…
